“A beautiful blend that satisfies the serious music lover while lightening the spirit and soothing the soul.”
(Jeanette Howler, Radio Starlion)

About the band….

FLEKD began when jazz and classical music studies drew together several talented young musicians in Wales with an interest in exploring the realms of traditional folk music from around the globe from the perspective of contemporary jazz.

Now established in London, with diverse professional backgrounds that encompass jazz, classical and traditional world folk music, the repertoire of FLEKD is developing rapidly. Their music delves into lively traditional celtic folk melodies around driving grooves, then slips into beautiful and engaging compositions from contemporary folk and jazz angles, visiting rhythms from Indian and African traditions along the way. The coming together of these styles is approached with intelligence and groove, and paves the way for some exciting new sounds in contemporary folk music.

Flekd gig this Sunday June 22nd!

So this Sunday, I’ve got the pleasure of playing with my good friends Jane, Matt, Moss and Rob at The Royal Albert, which is in Deptfort, South East London, – we’ll performing two sets there of folky fun (mostly originals, I must add!)  This is such a lovely project with everyone contributing to the music.

Please come along and support this evening, I can promise lots of lovely vibes and good food to boot! Hope to see you there….
